On a related note, the Pixel Watch 4’s elevation tracking was only 0.8 feet off of Garmin’s for the 19-mile run, though the gap was 3m for my half-marathon. I didn’t get a chance to climb a mountain or anything, but I generally trust its results. For my next test, I ran several miles on the same neighborhood loop. I’m just a guy who needs my smartwatch to guilt me into working out more and sleeping better. Weirdly, on the second night of wearing both to sleep, the Pixel Watch 4 logged an extra hour of sleep compared to the Apple Watch Series 11. It didn’t ever happen again, and the Pixel Watch 4 often says I woke up a minute or two later than the Apple Watch Series 11, but they’re worth noting. It’s just not as smooth as swapping bands on an Apple Watch or Galaxy Watch. On the left side of the Pixel Watch 4 is the new charging connector. It guzzled more battery during my 19-mile run, hitting closer to 12% battery used per hour, but still had more than enough juice for a long activity. With a litany of permissions required and multiple apps and wearables all fighting for space in the Google Fit dashboard, things can get pretty messy – and it’s not uncommon for inaccuracies to creep in.
